Journey across Port Arthur’s harbour to visit two of the site’s most enigmatic places – Point Puer Boys’ Prison and the Isle of the Dead.

Point Puer was the British Empire’s first separate prison for boys, which over its 15-year history, held more than 3000 prisoners, some as young as nine. And, just over the water from Point Puer, the tiny Isle of the Dead was the final resting place for over 1000 of Port Arthur’s people, from convicts to officers, women and children.

Combine the Isle of the Dead and Point Puer tours with your site entry ticket to fully experience everything the site has to offer. While you can take both of these tours in a single day, we recommend making the most of your two-day site entry, and spreading the experiences over a couple of days, to allow enough time to explore more of the house museums and interpretation around the site.
