Port Arthur’s naturally deep harbour lended itself perfectly to the arrival of large ships back in the convict era.
Today, we still welcome vessels to the harbour, with a select number of cruise ships visiting each year. Passengers arrive by tender to the jetty in the morning to explore the site as well as join tours of the wider region. This activity is often limited to the morning hours with passengers returning back to the ship by midday.
