There has been overwhelming interest in the Ode to Joy Concert at Port Arthur on March 18 and tickets have sold out.
The penitentiary lawn will be festooned with picnic blankets for the event which will feature the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra playing Beethoven’s passionate cry for justice and freedom.
This last and greatest symphony from one of the most talented composers of all time unleashes the awesome power of massed choirs, a stellar line-up of soloists and the brilliance of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Chief Conductor, Sebastian Lang-Lessing.
To launch the evening, the TSO will present Tchaikovsky’s triumphant 1812 Overture, complete with full chorus and bells.
More than 1200 tickets have been snapped up for the concert.
It will be an explosive evening with fireworks to finish.
