The MV Marana, which provides daily cruises on Port Arthur’s harbour for most of the year, will be replaced during August by the slightly smaller MV Excella.
The swap enables the harbour cruise to be offered all year round at the Historic Site, even in what is often the quietest month of the year.
Port Arthur CEO, Stephen Large, said that in previous years, lower visitor numbers during late winter meant that it had not been possible to offer the cruise year-round. However, an outstanding relationship with Navigators, which operates the cruises, had resulted in the month-long vessel swap and a terrific outcome for visitors.
The MV Marana will return to the Port Arthur cruises in September, and in October will re-commence regular cruises from Hobart to Port Arthur – a truly spectacular way to arrive in one of the State’s most spectacular locations.
