If you’re looking for a reason to head out for a drive with the family or friends this weekend, you could do worse than head to the Tasman Peninsula and the Tasman Country Fair at Taranna on Saturday.
It’s billed as a great day for the whole family. And for those with an interest in family history, staff from the Port Arthur Historic Site Resource Centre will be on hand to assist those with queries about their convict ancestry or convicts in general.
A number of searchable indexes and samples of convict records will be available, and personnel will be happy to provide information to those seeking to undertake research into their convict ancestors. In addition PAHSMA publications will be available for sale.
Of course, if you’re coming to Taranna, it would be a shame not to drop into the Port Arthur Historic Site while you’re here. Ask the booking office staff about the great value “Ticket Of Leave” 2 year entry pass, which allows you to visit any time you feel like it for two whole years.
