The Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority (PAHSMA) invites Expressions of Interest from companies interested in undertaking a major program of conservation works at the Penitentiary.

The Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority (PAHSMA) invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced companies to undertake the role of Managing Contractor for works and services at the Penitentiary structure at the Port Arthur Historic Site, Tasmania.

Details of the work and services required by the Managing Contractor are outlined in the Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) and  Supporting Documentation (see links below).

Respondents to the REOI are to be pre-qualified, or capable of being pre-qualified at time of award of contract, in accordance with Tasmanian Treasury guidelines for works over $5m. Following the REOI process PAHSMA will invite tenders for the provision of the work and services from a short-list of respondents.

The work and services to be provided by the Managing Contractor for the project will encompass:

Significant enabling works package including protection measures and demolition of existing redundant infrastructure

  1. Construction of structural stabilization infrastructure including new sub-ground footings within the ruin
  2. Prefabrication and installation of major structural steel elements
  3. Extensive structural remediation works to the masonry
  4. Construction of new elevated walkways and ground level boardwalks
  5. Civil works associated with tidal surge mitigation measures
  6. Hard and soft landscaping

The evaluation criteria, terms and conditions and other submission requirements are contained in the REOI.

The closing date for REOI submissions is 2pm, 12 November 2013. The tender process with shortlisted respondents will be conducted immediately following evaluation of EOIs. The anticipated commencement of construction activity is February 2014 with completion scheduled as December 2014.

Details of entities expressing interest to be subcontractors for trade package work will be provided to the tenderers for the managing contractor role.  Selection of trade package work subcontractors will be made by the managing contractor after consultation with PAHSMA.
