Conservation Volunteers helping out at Point Puer

February 21, 2007

Eight Conservation Volunteers have spent the past week working at Point Puer under the direction of PAHSMA Grounds and Gardens Supervisor, Ross Reid and his team.

The volunteers have been assisting with pruning and clearing of vegetation to better display the ruins at this site which despite its dark history abounds in physical beauty.

The volunteers have been marshalled to the site by Conservation Volunteers Australia, an organisation that works to attract and manage volunteers in practical conservation projects for the betterment of the Australian environment.

Conservation Volunteers Australia has many projects on the go at all times all over Australia and can even put travelling volunteers in touch with international conservation projects. For more information, visit

Further groups of volunteers will be working on projects in and around the Port Arthur Historic Site during 2007.
