Archaeology Summer Program at Port Arthur

January 5, 2006

Every year Port Arthur runs a very successful archaeology program. Designed to gather new research and aid site maintenance, the program has become an attraction in its own right. For over a month visitors get to see real archaeology happening on a real historic site.

A major component of the program is Public Archaeology, through which visitors are exposed to the processes and results of archaeology. Tours, trench side talks and specialised Kids Digs are all part of the mix.

This year the program will be running from January 10 – 28 (Tuesday – Sunday). Tours (1/2 hour duration) will be at 10:45am and 1:45pm. Kids Digs will be held at 11:15am and 2:15pm.
