Introductory Tour

The Introductory Walking Tour, included in your Site Entry Pass, takes around 40 minutes to complete.  Your experienced tour guide will give you an overview of Port Arthur’s convict history, explaining how it all worked and what life was like for convicts and free settlers at the time.  Your guide will leave you with plenty to think about as you then move on to exploring the site at your own leisure.  This tour is a great start to a day at Port Arthur, and is particularly beneficial to first-time visitors to the Site.

Introductory Tours leave regularly from outside the Visitor Centre.

Your admission fee includes a guided introductory tour and harbour cruise

Harbour Cruise

The Harbour Cruise is included in your Site Entry Pass. The MV Marana will take you past the Dockyard, the Isle of the Dead Cemetery and the Point Puer Boys’ Prison.  The on board guide will provide commentary, introducing you to the significance of the maritime history of Port Arthur. Enjoy a warm drink, a bite to eat or even a local wine or beer as you take in the view.

Harbour Cruises leave throughout the day and you will receive your cruise time when you purchase your entry pass.

Your Port Arthur Historic Site Admission fee includes a 25 minute harbour cruise

 Additional Tours

Extra, optional tours are available for purchase in addition to Site Entry Admission Passes.  Tickets are available for the Point Puer Boys’ Prison tour, and the Isle of the Dead Cemetery tour, or you can pick up the iPod Audio tour to add to your self guided experience.
