A touch of jazz at the Historic Site

Jazz ensemble Blues Point will perform standards by George Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Ray Charles in the Port Arthur Museum this Friday evening.

Presented by local arts society Out on a Limb, with the support of PAHSMA, Blues Point will also perform hits by Stevie Wonder, Joe Cocker. the Pointer Sisters, as well as funky gospel tunes in a wide-ranging program.

Described as “Jazz a cappella at its best!”, Blues Point promises to have audiences tapping their toes to their intricate vocal arrangements with a unique Australian flavour.

Blues Point has vocals by Dan Barnett, Lorraine Silk, Liz Moxey and George Washingmachine, with Craig Scott on the double bass.

The band members will also be giving a workshop while they are in the area. Local singers should gather at Nubeena School Hall on Friday 6 July at 4pm. The participation fee for the one-hour workshop is just $10, or $5 for members of Out On A Limb, and school students $2. Inquiries Phone 62503456
